Fall Has Arrived-Recipe Wednesday!

I have listened to my dear husband tell me how great my food is, while the look on his face tells a completely different story. He eats it. Time and time again, but-shoot-I eat it too and I know I'd rather eat out! I've tried to cook a little better, and I think over the past 7 years, I've gotten a few definitely awesome recipes under my belt that I can cook without fail and they are delicious! One of those is Kraft Mac n Cheese haha!

No really, I can make some slammin' spaghetti, killer lasagna, chili, etc. I try to keep the stuff I am good at around the house, so I always have dinner on hand, especially if I screw up something out of the norm I find on Pinterest! I have really screwed up some Pinterest recipes, but thats a story for another day. Today I am here to share an amazing potato soup recipe...see below.

Thanking my lucky stars that I made it through the week and now it has finally come...my precious day...Friday! The only real reason I am happy to see Friday is because my daughter in in school, and waking up with her after being up multiple times with a teething baby, makes for a grumpy me. I feel flustered when I dont get enough sleep, and my to-do lists never get done, so then I start to freak out. 

I love to chill out on the weekends, and just relax. I hate plans on the weekends! My daughter actually has cheerleading on Saturdays now, but its not for very long and I can handle that. 

On this Friday, I plan to finish some work from home, get up to speed with my laundry room that is currently overflowing, and fill my house with some food (yep! we're running low). What do you like about Friday, and what do you plan on doing today to get ready for the weekend?

The Honest Company Review *NEW WIPES*

To be honest, I am a wipe snob. I can experiment around with diapers, and if they blow out...just change them more often. I can work with the diaper thing...wipes...either work or don't.

I have stuck with one brand of wipes the whole time this past 5 months since my son has been born. I have actually ordered from Honest many times, and I usually give their wipes away. The first round of wipes from them were thin, the second round was thicker and a ton better, but still not for me. They obviously LISTEN to their customers, because they just revamped their wipes again for us! 

Safety 1st Carseat Giveaway! In Honor of Child Passenger Safety Week (Ends 9/22/2013)

September 15th marks the beginning of "Child Passenger Safety Week" this year. I was so excited when approached to write an article about this, and to giveaway a carseat to one of my lucky readers. Carseat safety is absolutely mandatory for the safety of your child, and it is the law. Many times, you may even think your using your carseat correctly, and your not. Its by accident, not on purpose. Carseat installation actually more often than not, is done incorrectly, which is why I would like to use this post to point out some great resources!

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children age 1 through 12 years old.  Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the goal of Child Passenger Safety week is to make sure all parents and caregivers are properly securing their children (ages 0-12) in the best car restraint (rear-facing, forward-facing, booster, seat belt) for their age and size. 

Most communities have somewhere they can go and have their carseat properly installed and taught how to install and use it yourself. In my town, my fire department does this by appointment only. It is free, and was a great resource to me before my 2nd baby was born. I actually was pretty confident I knew what I was doing, and I didn't. I learned SO much, and my carseat would have been installed WRONG, if I hadn't gone up there.

King's Hawaiian MAIL POST-ALOHA GIVEAWAY!

I have an affair with my mailbox. I admit it, there. My husband thinks it is the funniest thing to try and get the mail before I can, because he knows how much I love my mail. Well, yes of course I get bills, ads, and useless junk mail, but I get coupons and sometimes companies even send me goodies!

Sushi. OBX. Nuff Said!

We went on vacation the beginning of August to Rodanthe, NC located in the BEAUTIFUL Outerbanks! My favorite vacation place ever! We have been a few times, and done a bed and breakfast and a hotel. This time, we rented a house and it was so much better. We saved so much money by being able to go grocery shopping, and cooking in the full furnished kitchen. We also had access to a pool and had our own hot tub, so that saved money on looking for things to do.

One place we became extra fond of while vacationing down in the OBX was a sushi spot down in Avon. If your coming from Rodanthe it'll be on the left, by the Pier in Avon. Tucked back in you'll find Haoles Sushi. Visit their Facebook by clicking their name and tell them we sent you!

They have the absolute best sushi my husband and I have ever had. I can't think of all the names right now, but I can tell you that I'd drive another 13 hours down there right now to eat their sushi for dinner tonight. The owner made our sushi and we enjoyed talking to him about his business endeavors and new baby on the way. 

Their sushi may have been million dollar sushi, but it was decently priced for a great meal. Probably the cheapest meal we had down there and we also had drinks (including a berry vodka drink that had fresh mottled berries), sake, and more than a few rolls of sushi! Heres some photos, we went twice and I only remembered to take pics of the sushi when it was almost gone!

P.S. On your way to Haoles Sushi, DO NOT SPEED! :) We got a great speeding ticket our last night there on our way to eat our favorite sushi. WELL WORTH THE TICKET, THOUGH!

Coupons from Answers.com Widget! WELCOME!
