Food Should Taste Good Review + Giveaway! (Ends 11/8/2013)

Are you the type who likes to chill out at night with a good chip to snack on? I love to watch TV and snack on chips and dip, and you can just call me a chip connoisseur. I've tried them all. The good folks over at Food Should Taste Good sent me a few bags of their different flavors to snack on recently. My mother in law and my aunt were in town, so we popped the bags open and gave them a try. They sent me 4 flavors, but please keep in mind they have other flavors and the ones nearest you may vary.

White Chicken Chili

I hate cold weather, and I don't like all the leaves falling. However, something about this time of year just screams soup to me. Soup, stew, chili, it's all warm, and makes me feel like I should be under a blanket enjoying a good movie and feeling all cozy while eating! 

Without further ado...here is a white chicken chili recipe I got from a friend this week. She threw it together super quick, and it is GOOD! You can tweak it to whatever your tastes are, if you want it more soupy add more water or milk...if you want it thicker add a bit of flour. Season it the way you like, but always remember add a little at a time because you can always add more but you can't take it out!

Here's what you need...

1 can of corn

1 can of black beans

1 can of white northern beans

1 can of chicken broth

2 cans of cream of chicken soup

1 can of diced tomatoes

1 pound of chicken breast or tenderloins

Tortilla chips

Shredded cheddar cheese

Sour cream

White Chicken Chili seasoning 

1) Boil chicken and when done, shred it with a fork.

2) In a large pot put the shredded chicken and the seasoning packet of white chicken chili. I also added butter and let this simmer for about 5 minutes

3) Add the tomatoes,beans, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and corn.

4) Taste this as you go, I added some about 1/4 cup of milk, a few sprinkles of flour with my hand, pepper, a little bit of salt, dash of onion powder and a dash of Cajun seasoning. 

5) Simmer for about 20 minutes on low.

When you pour your bowl, crumble tortilla chips on top with shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream! This stuff is good. Enjoy

Photography, anyone?

I love photographs. They capture the still sweet moments in life. Memories may fade with time, but when a photograph captures that moment, whether it be your house, your haircut, your project, your garden, or family portraits, it freezes that moment in time so you can always look back on that.

I never had a really good camera until my husband bought me an awesome one for my birthday a couple years ago. Its been fun learning to use it, and taking photos of my kiddos and nature. My brother even got me an extra lens, that focuses in on things at a closer distance. I just purchased my third lens and I am so excited to get it and play around with it. I have even considered dabbling in photography a bit.

Are any of my readers phtographers, or does anyone dabble in it for fun? I'd love to hear any tips you have! Any certain things you love to photograph? My favorite photos to take are of my little ones. Just love capturing the moments with them, since they grow up way too fast! Praise be to Jesus! Thank you Lord for allowing me to capture these moments! :)

Homemade Chicken Pot Pie

I didn't even have time to take a picture, but take my word for it-its good. It disappeared too fast for a picture, so that should be proof enough.

1 pound chicken breast/tenderloins
1 bag frozen mixed veggies
1 can diced potatoes
1 can chicken broth
1 stick of butter
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup milk
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 Box fridgerated pie dough (Near the biscuits)

Preheat oven to 425
*Boil the chicken & chop it up
*Saute the onions and celery with the butter until soft. Slowly add in the flour, and then the chieken broth, and the milk. Stir constantly.
*Add in mixed veggies, potatoes, and cream of chicken soup and stir all together on low heat.
*Roll out pie dough to fit whatever pan you desire, (I used a 9x13 casserole dish). Put one on the bottom, and pour the chicken in first, then add the veggie soup mixture over that. Finally place the other piece of pie dough on top.
*Bake in oven at 425 for 45 minutes or until pie crust is browning.

Asking Companies for Coupons..+ Master List

Did you know that there are other ways of obtaining coupons for products you buy and love? You don't have to clip from the Sunday paper. If you're like me, you go out all day running around on Sunday, and you come home with everything BUT the Sunday paper. Oh well, I have found other ways around this.

Government shut down=Hard times, no WIC...

I am not too political or anything, but when the whole government shuts down ...it will catch my eye. I just had my baby in late April, and belong to a few birth boards. I am very familiar with how much WIC helped me when I had my daughter, and how much it helps mothers all over this country. I know a ton of mothers who wouldnt have been able to nurse their babies without proper assistance and support from WIC, and for the mothers who can't nurse, WIC provides them with formula to feed their babies. This program is essential to feed our children.

I will be the first to admit my faults, well, I actually only have one-I can't cook that well. I mean, there are some things I cook well, like I have told y'all before...spaghetti, lasagna, sloppy joes, macaroni and cheese, the basics...I can do very well.

I've really mastered those, and I make them repetitively. My husband gets sick of spaghetti, though. My daughter...she would eat it every night, but when I say spaghetti is for dinner and my husband has this look on his face with a sarcastic "yay" sound, I know its time to whip something new up.
